L'edizione 2023 del DucatoPrize č concepita come un osservatorio sulle individualitŕ artistiche nazionali e internazionali ed č radicata nel rapporto che sussiste tra l'individuo e il cosmo, dove l'universo č considerato come un agglomerato di corpi visti da un unico punto d'osservazione. Quest'edizione č affidata alla direzione di Giacomo Pigliapoco, curatore indipendente, e prevede l'introduzione di diverse novitŕ, tra cui: gli artisti finalisti di questa edizione passeranno da essere tre per ogni categoria a cinque, per un totale di 10 artisti finalisti che faranno poi parte della mostra finale; la selezione č affidata a un Collectors Board e a una giuria interamente rinnovati, quest'ultima composta da: Julieta Aranda, Nerina Ciaccia, Luigi Fassi, Stéphane Ibars, Bernardo Mosqueira.
I 50 selezionati iinclusi nel catalogo del DP23 sono cosě suddivisi: 40 artisti della sezione Contemporary + 10 artisti della sezione Academy Contemporary: Alix Marie, Alfredo Aceto, Andro Eradze, Julie Grosche, Mateusz Choróbski, Agnieszka Mastalerz, Davide Sgambaro, Wisrah Villefort, Daniele Costa, Edson Luli, Shafei Xia, Maria Laet, Eleonora Luccarini, Sybil Montet, Davide Stucchi, Vasilis Papageorgiou, Giuliana Rosso, Kyriaki Goni, Tomaso De Luca, Mila Panic, Rodrigo Hernández, Jieun Lim, Terrence Musekiwa, Andrea Sala, Raffaela Naldi Rossano, Paolo Ciregia, Sofie Tobiášová, Diego Gualandris, Xavier Robles de Medina, Corinna Gosmaro, Liao Wen, Pamela Diamante, Francesco Joăo, Helena Hladilová, Andrea Nacciarriti, Judith Neunhäuserer, Marilisa Cosello, Adji Dieye, Ambra Castagnetti, Silvia Rosi. It is thanks to
the immense value of the work done in previous editions and the participation of all the other artists not mentioned that
the initiative has solidified itself as one of the most reputable in its category on both the national and European stage. In
the contemporary art world, art awards play a significant role in providing artists with the opportunity to become part of a
new framework, with a substantial chance of being approached by museums and galleries actively seeking new talents to discover... For an artist, whether emerging or established, receiving an award can signify a career that's gaining momen- tum and new opportunities that are unfolding, especially those tied to engagement with galleries or institutions. I find that the DucatoPrize is an excellent opportunity to introduce
the practices of many artists, aiding not only in the recognition of their work but also in supporting the experimentation of participants. Artistic creation is an act of expanding mental and visual boundaries, reshaping a new idea of reality and the fresh imaginaries that stem from it. Creating art can be costly and requires constant sacrifices. The cash prizes awarded
to Adji Dieye and Friedrich Andreoni aim to encourage their investment and the production of new bodies of work.
